Colonel Lalit Rai, is a decorated Kargil war veteran who led his men from the front during one of the fiercest battles ever fought in Kargil in 1999.
As the commanding officer of 1st battalion, Gorkha Rifles, he was tasked with capturing the strategic heights of Khalubar in the Batalik sector during the Kargil War. His inspirational leadership, effective strategy & extraordinary bravery on the battlefield was a game changer that led India to victory in the war.
He held many prestigious command & staff appointments during his illustrious career span of 30 years. He was posted as an instructor at the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla & at the Officers Training Academy, Chennai. He is presently the President, Human Resources Development & Administration, of a leading Realty & Hospitality Company.

Colonel Lalit Rai was awarded the gallantry Vir Chakra Award, by the President of India, for his services during the Kargil War. He has also been honored with a felicitation by the Prime Minister for exemplary & inspirational leadership and Sunil Dutt award for his selfless services.
